New Jersey Eye Doctors and Latisse®

latisse patel eye associates new jerseyDuring the handful of years since Latisse®, a drug originally developed to manage glaucoma, was approved for cosmetic use due to its ability to produce more dramatic eyelashes, the treatment has become increasingly popular in New Jersey and nationwide.

The doctors at Patel Eye Associates in Edison and Kendall Park, New Jersey are proud to provide our patients with Latisse® treatments when they aspire to grow thicker, longer eyelashes. You can book your Latisse® consultation online through our website or call the office directly: 732.985.5009

How Does Latisse® Grow Lashes?

Like the hairs on our head, eyelashes cycle through periods of growth and shedding. Latisse® extends the growth phase of your eyelashes to provide  a thicker, more lush appearance.. Since the treatment works by prolonging the growth cycle for your eyelashes, you will need to continue using Latisse® to maintain the results. Once you discontinue usage, your eyelashes will return to their original state.

What Can You Expect During Latisse® Treatment?

Latisse® is applied to the clean upper lash line of both eyes each night. Sterile, one-time-use applicators are supplied to ensure proper results. Once applied, Latisse® spreads throughout the lash line as you blink. Always remove your contact lenses and any eye makeup prior to application, and be sure to avoid getting Latisse® directly in your eye. Never use the applicator more than one time, as this can cause serious eye infections or allergic reactions.

Many Latisse users begin to see results after two months of regular nightly application. However, it will take approximately four months before the full benefits of Latisse may be seen. Clinical studies indicate that you may experience a 25 percent increase in eyelash length, an 18 percent increase in eyelash darkness, and a more than 100percent increase in thickness and fullness.

Am I a Candidate for Latisse®?

Most people who want  thicker, darker  eyelashes are candidates for Latisse®. However, it may not be a suitable if you:

  • Have certain eye problems such as uveitis or conjunctivitis
  • Are at risk for or have macular edema
  • Suffer from severe allergies affecting your eyes
  • Have upper eyelid skin infections
  • Are pregnant or nursing
